The working group "Development and Education in Early Childhood" has existed since October 1, 2012 and is headed by Prof. Dr. Sonja Perren headed. The professorship is a bridge professorship at the University of Konstanz and the Thurgau University of Teacher Education. The team consists of psychologists and educational scientists. The working group belongs to the Binational Center for Early Childhood .
The current research focus of the working group is on (a) quality and professionalization in early childhood education and care settings (day care and educational play groups), (b) socio-emotional skills and peer relationships in early childhood and (c) the role of play in early childhood development
The current University courses include the areas of early childhood education and early prevention, development of socio-emotional competences and research methods. The courses are primarily open to students of the Master's program in early childhood (MA Frühe Kindheit). Selected courses are also open to other students at the University of Konstanz and PHTG on request.
