Department of Empirical Educational Research
The Department of Empirical Educational Research was established in 2007 along with the formation of the W3 joint professorship for empirical educational research (Prof. Dr. Thomas Götz) between the University of Konstanz and the Thurgau University of Teacher Education (Switzerland). The Department was complemented in 2010 by an additional assistant professorship for empirical educational research (Jun.- Prof. Dr. Madeleine Bieg). In year 2012 the department was extended with a further W3 joint professorship for development and education in early childhood (Prof. Dr. Sonja Perren). In the context of the “Quality initiative: Teacher training” and the establishment of the Binational School of Education, in spring 2016 further professorships in the Empirical Educational Research were established. Hence in 2016 a further assistant professorship was created for teaching research with focus on heterogeneity (Jun.- Prof. Dr. Axinja Hachfeld). In February 2017 a university lectureship for school education with focus on inclusion (Prof. Dr. Susanne Jurkowski) was created. Prof. Dr. Christiane Bertram complements, likewise, the Department of Empirical Educational Research since February 2017 as a historical didactician for the didactics of social sciences.
